Tis the season of transitional clothing.
Summer is saying its last goodbye…but won’t quite leave, kind of like how your mom would tell you it is time to leave your friend’s house and then spend another 20 minutes talking at the doorway. Autumn is so close you can almost taste it…but won’t really be here till next month. You might be ready with fall boots, coat, and a cozy sweater that matches your eyes…but you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to wear them. Here are two tips on how to use your summer pieces to bridge that gap.
1: Trapeze or tunic tops
Do you have any long, flowy tops that looked great paired with capris and sandals over the summer? (see my outfit below) You can take those tops and wear them with skinny jeans or leggings, pointed flats, and a jacket this fall. It is also the perfect thing to wear during the transition months because you can bring a jacket for chilly evenings and wear it by itself during the day.
note about my outfit: I love this top. In summer it pairs with jeans, in fall leggings and boots and a jacket. When I want to be comfortable and look good without much effort I pick this top. Also pictured below are are my FAVORITE shoes. They are flattering and surprisingly comfy. I’m 5 1′ so the height doesn’t hurt either. Even though summer is nearly gone, you’ll still be able to get some use out of sandals for a little while longer.
Top: Chloe K Shark Bite Tank (Similar, on my wishlist)
Sandals: Women‘s Earline Wedge Sandals
2. Summer dresses reimagined
Some summer dresses can actually be worn in the fall. Summer dresses that fall above the knees look surprisingly adorable worn under an oversized sweater or with a jacket and scarf, paired with leggings and ankle boots. You can even throw on a hat for good measure. Just in case you can’t picture it, I pulled a few examples from Pinterest:
I kinda want all of these outfits, especially that olive coat. I love how even floral dresses of summer look fallish in these outfits.
